"How excellent is thy loving kindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings." Psalms 36:7 KJV
House of Hesed believes that every life is precious, even to the end.
We know that end of life care can be unfamiliar territory for individuals and their families. Hospice offers much support to families at the end of life; however they are unable to provide the 24-hour care of a family. A comfort care home is a residence where volunteers provide round the clock family type care for those who do not have family or friends to care for them. The person with a life limiting illness moves to the comfort care home as his or her life journey comes to a close.
We believe that a loving home is needed to ensure that an individual can die with dignity and peace. There is no place like home and we seek to become an individual's home and an extension of their family.
If you have ever known a loved one or friend who needed a place to peacefully end their days on earth, then you know there are very few options for someone without strong family support. A comfort care home is a significant and meaningful way for Southern Indiana to care for its own families.
Care of the dying is an act of mercy. Therefore, we believe that Southern Indiana is best suited to provide volunteers to commit to this act of mercy. Southern Indiana is a very warm, down to earth and welcoming community capable and willing to care for those in our area. We believe that the people of Southern Indiana will continue to embrace and support our work as a worthwhile charitable endeavor.
Every person's life is valuable.
Every person deserves care, comfort, and a supportive presence when facing the end of life.
Every person deserves a safe and stable home free from concern while they are dying.
We believe in collaboration with local hospice agencies in order to ensure physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met.
We believe that the hospitality of Southern Indiana is that of a caring community and individuals are best cared for in their home communities.
We believe this demonstration of God’s love helps to bring peace to an individual facing death.
